Services for Lucina Bell Pierson, 83, of Olathe were held today, May 18, at 2:30 pm at the Olathe Baptist Church. Officiating were the Rev. John Dwiggins and the Rev. Russell Bryant. Burial was in the Delta Cemetery with Montrose Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Pierson died May 15, at the Delta Memorial Hospital. A resident of Colorado for 52 years of her life, she was born in Harrison County, Missouri, and lived at Lamar for 31 years and Olathe for 21. Her parents were George York and Sarah Tull York. She was most active in the Olathe Baptist Church, of which she was a member. She was preceded in death in 1938 by her husband, James Pierson, whom she married May 18, 1902, at Eagleville, [Harrison County] Mo. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Clara) Yockey of Eugene, OR; Mrs. David (Grace) Du Frain of Olathe; five sons, James Pierson, of Uravan, William, Carl, John and Jack Pierson all of Olathe; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Redman (sic-s/b Redburn) and Mrs. Myrtle Mathis, both of Eagleville, Mo; 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.1

He contracted asthma from the horses and had to take an open air job driving a horse tram from Aldgate to Poplar.5,6
