Ann Elizabeth Nelson1
b. Sep 1909
Note* | | Ann Elizabeth - born 1909. Married Les Keenes. Ann attended Denmark St. School. She was a keen swimmer. She did work for a few years, but after her mother's death, she kept house for the family. Les worked as driver with Eric Taylor. They were both members of the West Ham Motor Club. Les was also a keen grass track racer. During World War II, he served overseas in India. At that time Ann was employed as an engineering inspector at Plesseys Ilford, working underground at Gants Hill. She is employed by the same firm today. It sometimes happens in a large family that one member concerns herself with the well-being of the whole family. In time of troubl and sickness, they can be relied upon to render assistance and comfort. Such a one is Ann. She has been unfailing in her readiness to come to the aid of the others. It was she who kept house for her father, caring for her young sister Bessie. Making constants visits to her cousin Kate, especially during her last years. Jim and May must appreciate the help she gave them during the sad illness of their daughter, Marie. Her father spent his last days with her. I am sure that other members of this family have their own stories of her kindness to them.2 |
