Birth*1843 Jane Smith , daughter of Richard Smith and Fanny Tomkins, was born in 1843 at Goldington, BDF, ENG.1 
(Witness) Census 18617 Apr 1861 Jane Smith appeared as Jane appears as Jane Smith BANDY. in a later Census as Jane SMITH. It seems likely that she was Fanny's daughter by an earlier marriage. in the household of William Bandy and Fanny Tomkins in the census at Goldington; William BANDY says he is unmarried, Fanny SMITH married. They do marry later in the year. We can only presume that Fanny was still married to somebody else at this time. After their marriage Fanny uses her married name.1 
(Witness) Census2 Apr 1871 Jane Smith appeared on the census of 2 Apr 1871 in the household of William Bandy at Goldington, BDF, ENG; head age 52, Tailor. Jane SMITH (dau in law) [step dau] is living with them.3
